How to change user folder name in vista
I agree, but Nikspadia seems determined to change the name of the original user account folder. Vista's built-in security creates so many headaches if you attempt to copy the original user profile settings to a new user, and then delete the original user's profile.
While this could be done fairly easily in XP, it is not an easy task in Vista. I assumed perhaps incorrectly that Nikspadia's system was fairly new, so the restoration of the factory image seemed like the "quick and dirty" way to accomplish the objective. I routinely use Owner as the user name when setting up clients' Vista systems, and then change the display name in User Accounts.
That way, when an employee departs for whatever reason, I avoid the confusion of the new user seeing the former employee's name on the user account folder. Yes, I see your point. Perhaps it would be just as simple to restore the computer using the factory image. And you are correct - Vista doesn't make it easy to transfer profile settings to a new account.

Why does it look to me, as if he wants to rename the special folders like 'My Documents' to 'Docz' and 'My Pictures' to 'Picz' I had tried this option and it changed the account name just fine Option B looks promising and it appears like it might be the easiest way to accomplish this.
So it sounds like it might not be a viable option. Unfortunately it appears that Option A is the only way to do what you want. I have done it myself with Vista Ultimate. To do this option you will have to edit the registry key that contains the path to the user profile folder and probably have to download some extra software to handle updates to other keys that third party applications use.
If you are ok with editing registry keys and dealing with problems that may arise from doing so I will post more info on doing this. The Best Tech Newsletter Anywhere.
